The post added, “Memories are transparent: you can see exactly what Grok knows and choose what to forget.”
Users have full control over the feature, according to the company. It can be switched off in the settings under Data Controls, and individual “memories” can be deleted by selecting the icon beneath each one within the Grok web chat interface. This new functionality, currently in beta, is available via Grok.com and on both the iOS and Android Grok apps. However, it is unavailable to users in the EU and UK for now.
The update mirrors a similar enhancement recently introduced by OpenAI for ChatGPT, which also allows the chatbot to refer to earlier conversations. Both platforms allow users to opt out of memory-based interactions.
