Mohanlal’s Drishyam 3 to create issues for Ajay Devgn?
According to a report in Mid-Day, Mohanlal and director Jeethu Joseph are keen to target the Hindi audience. They plan to release Drishyam 3 in both Hindi and Malayalam to generate more buzz for their movie. As for Ajay Devgn’s version, the scripting process is still underway. If Mohanlal’s film goes on floors by the end of May, as planned, the film could be shot and released earlier.A source told Mid-Day, “Buoyed by the past two editions’ success, Jeethu, Mohanlal and producer Antony Perumbavoor are keen to make the third outing a pan-India offering. This can become an issue for Ajay’s movie, as his Drishyam 3’s script is still being worked upon. One of the reasons why Ajay’s Drishyam has been successful so far is because the Malayalam original didn’t tap into the Hindi-speaking audience.”
Why Mohanlal’s Drishyam 3 could capture the market
If Mohanlal’s Drishyam 3 releases earlier in Hindi, it could attract audiences more easily in other parts of India. Moreover, since the two films share plot points and characters, the suspense factor could be lost for Ajay Devgn’s film.Popular in Entertainment
Ajay Devgn is busy with projects like Dhamaal 4 and De De Pyaar De 2. This means the Raid actor is not available to shoot a new film over the next few months. This gives an advantage to Mohanlal’s Drishyam 3 in terms of starting production. The actor is presently enjoying the success of his blockbuster action thriller L2: Empuraan.
According to Mid-Day, “Kumar Mangat Pathak, who has produced the Hindi adaptations so far, is in talks with the makers of the original to see whether both versions can have a simultaneous release.”
