Pawan Kalyan's ex-wife Renu Desai wants to remarry but has a condition

Pawan Kalyan’s ex-wife, former actress Renu Desai, recently reflected on what stops her from pursuing love again after her divorce from the Telugu superstar. In a candid interview with Nikhil Vijayendra Simha, Desai opened up about her love life.

When asked if she has any plans of tying the knot again, she said that although she does hope to find love again, she is too preoccupied with kids to focus on romance. “It is my sense of responsibility towards the kids that stops me from doing it,” she told Simha.

She added that she may start thinking about her own life once her kids grow up and start college.

She revealed that she had tried to balance a relationship and commitment to her kids but the experience was too overwhelming. “I tried and got engaged; it was like an arranged thing. But I realized I will not be able to do justice either to the relationship or to the kids. I am a single parent. It is different when you marry someone and have kids with them. But, when you have had kids with someone, it’s a sensitive thing for someone else to enter the equation.” Renu broke off her engagement after announcing it in 2018.

In the same conversation, Renu Desai opened up about the emotional weight she continues to carry long after her separation from actor-politician Pawan Kalyan. Reflecting on public perception and societal judgment, she shared that the criticism an individual receives often hinges on their professional standing. Despite the passage of 13 years since their divorce, Renu revealed that she still faces relentless trolling from Pawan Kalyan’s devoted fans, many of whom believe she should have stayed in the marriage and “shown more patience,” citing their admiration for the actor—some even likening him to a deity.

Addressing the ongoing negativity, Renu candidly admitted to the lingering emotional scars left by her past. “The trauma hasn’t left me,” she said. “This emotional burden, this baggage—it’s something I’ve come to accept will stay with me for life. It won’t disappear until I leave this world. I’ve tried to fight it, but now I’ve stopped resisting. I’ve made my peace with its presence.”

She further elaborated on the social dynamics that determine who bears the brunt of public judgment following a breakup or divorce. According to Renu, the amount of criticism one receives is often tied to their perceived success. “The backlash always reflects who holds more power professionally,” she noted. “If the man has a stronger career, then the woman is usually blamed. If the woman is more successful, sometimes the man gets the heat. But more often than not, it’s the woman who ends up being targeted.”

Renu's reflections highlight a harsh reality faced by many women in the public eye, especially in relationships where their partner has a larger fanbase or more visibility. In her case, Pawan Kalyan’s towering popularity and near-devotional following seem to have shaped the narrative around their personal lives, often leaving Renu vilified and misunderstood. She expressed that no amount of explanation seems to soften the public's stance—particularly when it comes to a figure as idolized as Kalyan.
