In a letter to the National Commission for Women, APSCW chairperson Kenjum Pakam stated that Yadav’s remarks were not just an insult to Darang but also to women across Northeast India. During a podcast with Bigg Boss 18 contestant Rajat Dalal, Yadav mocked Darang and actor Karan Veer Mehra, making insensitive and vulgar statements about Darang’s name and career. He said, “Karan Veer ko pakka Covid tha kyuki Chum kisko pasand aati hai bhai, itna taste kiska kharab hota hai? Aur Chum ke toh naam mai hi ashleelta hai. Naam Chum aur kaam Gangubai Kathiawadi mai kiya hai.”
Pakam emphasized that such behaviour fosters fear and intimidation for Northeastern women in the entertainment industry. The commission urged authorities to take strict action against Yadav, highlighting how discriminatory attitudes contribute to the marginalization of individuals from the region and hinder their professional growth.
Meanwhile, the Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE) has strongly condemned the controversial statements made by Ranveer Allahbadia and Elvish Yadav. FWICE President BN Tiwari expressed serious concern over the issue, pointing out the significant influence both social media personalities hold over their large audience.
The organization criticized the remarks as irresponsible and offensive, emphasizing that individuals with such widespread reach should uphold a sense of responsibility. FWICE has called for strict legal action against the statements, stressing that comments attacking a person’s dignity and racial identity are unacceptable. The federation urged authorities to ensure accountability and promote respectful discourse within the entertainment industry.
