UK startup Helixx leans on Siemens to design EV 'factory in a box'
UK start-up Helixx will use Siemens' digital platform to design a "factory in a box" that will produce low-cost electric vehicles (EVs), beginning with four models: a delivery van, pickup truck, motorised rickshaw, and passenger van. Siemens' digital twin technology will enable Helixx to create a white-label licensed factory model for carmakers. Helixx aims to create 200 prototypes in the UK by 2024 and to be producing 10,000 EVs annually by 2025 at pilot facilities in the UK and Singapore. So far, Helixx has raised nearly ?1m ($1.3m).
