Cotton farmers from Telangana may get central price support
The Centre plans to launch a pilot of the Bhavantar Bhugtan Yojana next month for cotton farmers in Adilabad, Telangana. The scheme aims to compensate farmers when market prices fall below the minimum support price (MSP). The decision follows a recent committee meeting and the promise to support cotton and soyabean farmers.
Govt weighs junking customs relief in 'Make in India' push
India might remove customs duty exemptions on certain imported components such as insulins, rough lab grown diamonds, and materials for LED and LCD TV panels in the upcoming budget. This is to encourage local manufacturing. The finance ministry is seeking inputs and reviewing the planned investments and domestic production capacities for 31 products.
