These large-caps have ¡®strong buy¡¯ & ¡®buy¡¯ recos and an upside potential of more than 30%
Volatility is back, so is the fear of another round of correction. But before worrying about what¡¯s happening on the street, understand that, at this point, what is causing volatility is mostly not about India ¨C it is about emerging and currency markets. It might not appear to be significant here, but for global investors, the Chinese currency, Renminbi, moving below 7.30 to the US dollar last Friday was a big deal. It also pushed the rupee lower against the dollar. For a hedge fund, whose game is based on arbitrage, these moves are significant and make a big difference in the gain or loss they make on their investments. So, while monitoring Dalal street, keep one eye on the currency market. Because any indication that the storm has passed will come from there.

PM Surya Ghar subsidy claims may move in fast lane
The government aims to reduce the subsidy disbursement time under the PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana to seven days from a month. The scheme has seen 1.8 million applications and 13 million registrations since February. Back-end integration and NPCI involvement are expected to expedite payments further.
How govt¡¯s solar rooftop scheme is shaping Tata Motors' EV strategy
The market leader in the electric passenger vehicle segment Tata Motors suggests there is a clear value the rooftop solar users are finding in EV adoption. It is also seeing a boost with a central govt scheme aimed in this direction. Industry experts suggest that while there will be an interlinkage in both the sectors they are currently at an early stage. Going forward, awareness is necessary as there could be specific challenges with regards to urban and rural penetration.
As unrelenting heat wave makes power demand spike, utilities told to be on high alert
The ministry's statement highlighted that the northern region has faced high electricity demand since May 17, 2024, due to the heatwave. Despite these tough conditions, the highest-ever peak demand of 89 GW in the northern region was successfully met on June 17, 2024.
Installing rooftop solar panels in Delhi to get easier soon; dedicated portal launched

Solar power and EV policy on priority list of Delhi govt once MCC is lifted
With the conclusion of the country's largest electoral activity and the impending lifting of the Model Code of Conduct, various pending government initiatives and projects in Delhi are poised to gain momentum, as per ToI reports. Among the numerous initiatives of the Delhi government, the mohalla bus service scheme and the second edition of policies regarding electric vehicles and solar power await approval.
Rooftop solar scheme: 100,000 hands to be trained to put solar panels in homes
Besides trained manpower, another challenge for such a scale of implementation would be the need for a large number of vendors. An official said the government is also looking to train 50,000 vendors for entrepreneurship.
Modi govt's new solar scheme has three big hurdles
The government has launched a new scheme to encourage the installation of solar panels on rooftops, aiming to triple renewable capacity by 2030. The program provides subsidies to install grid-connected systems, allowing households to reduce electricity bills and sell extra power to the grid. However, challenges remain, including difficulties with electricity distribution companies (DISCOMs) and a lack of skilled workers. Despite these hurdles, the initiative is expected to create jobs and significantly reduce CO2 emissions.
Rooftop solar scheme may be linked with Gati Shakti programme
The PM Gati Shakti plan incorporates the infrastructure schemes of various ministries and state governments like Bharatmala, Sagarmala, inland waterways, dry and land ports, among others. Once under Gati Shakti, stakeholders like power distribution companies (discoms) can do better planning of the infrastructure and capacity addition required by them.
Arvind Kejriwal government notifies Delhi Solar Policy, 2023
Delhi Solar Policy, 2023, introduced by Arvind Kejriwal government, aims to provide zero bills for consumers with over 400 monthly units. It includes halving power bills for commercial users, generation-based incentives, and Net Metering benefits.
India wants to hook its population onto clean energy by boosting rooftop solar
India is streamlining the process for rooftop solar connections with government support and subsidies. However, the country still falls short of its targeted 40 gigawatts of rooftop solar power by 2022. Consumer awareness and buy-in from electricity companies are key to growth. Bureaucratic hurdles have been challenging, but interest in rooftop solar technology is increasing.
Want to install rooftop solar? Delhi govt is here to help
The Delhi government is set to use satellite imagery for rooftop assessments to enhance solar power generation under the newly passed Delhi Solar Policy 2024. The initiative aims to accurately analyze shadow and sunlight patterns throughout the year to calculate the power generation potential of rooftops. The policy encourages residents to install solar panels, offering incentives such as generation-based incentives, capital subsidies, and the opportunity to sell excess electricity. The government plans to launch a comprehensive portal featuring details of empanelled agencies and organize awareness camps to empower consumers with information about solar installations.
India missed 2022 solar rooftop target. Will new policies help meet the revised deadline of 2026?
India's solar power generation target of 100 GW by 2022 was missed, with only 63.3 GW generated. Rooftop solar energy generation was just 11 GW, far short of the 40 GW target. Experts are unsure if the new deadline of March 2026 will be met. Rooftop solar is important for affordable power, reducing dependence on the grid, and improving access to electricity in remote areas. Lack of awareness, high initial costs, and lack of financing options are hindering residential adoption.
Delhi govt approves draft Solar Policy, revises target by three times to 6,000 MW by 2025
The policy also encourages discoms to increase the share of solar energy procured from outside Delhi through innovative models such as RE-RTC (Renewable Energy-Round the Clock). It combines a host of renewable energy sources (solar, wind and others) alone with appropriately sized battery storage to provide round-the-clock power as per the demand curve of Delhi, the statement said.
