Synopsis
Modi praised Musk’s DOGE (Department of Government Efficiency) Mission, saying it reflects a shared spirit of innovation. "Now, with his DOGE mission, he is incredibly excited about how it's progressing and honestly, it makes me happy, too, because when I took office in 2014, I wanted to free my country from the deep-rooted issues and harmful practices that have crept in," he said.
The Prime Minister also praised Musk’s DOGE (Department of Government Efficiency) Mission, saying it reflects a shared spirit of innovation. "Of course, we had discussions and we talked about many different topics. Now, with his DOGE mission, he is incredibly excited about how it's progressing and honestly, it makes me happy, too."
DOGE, a new advisory body set up by US President Donald Trump, has been formed to make government work faster and more efficient. Its aim is to improve coordination between departments, and reduce wasteful expenditure. To this end it has been driving the layoffs of thousands of federal workers.
Responding to a question from Fridman about how India can position itself as a global AI leader, Modi asserted that the world’s AI journey will remain incomplete without India.
“I believe AI development is fundamentally a collaboration. Everyone involved supports one another through shared experiences and learning,” he said, underlining the importance of partnerships in advancing the technology.
Modi added that India is not only focused on theoretical research but is also building AI-driven applications for real-world use cases, and is working to ensure GPU access for all.
The PM also revealed that he had met several members of US President Donald Trump's administration, including Tulsi Gabbard, as well as Republican party politician Vivek Ramaswamy, describing the gathering as family-like, with many attendees accompanied by their loved ones.
