Results: Votes were counted on December 8. The Bharatiya Janata Party posted a historic victory, winning 156 of the 182 seats. That's the highest ever margin of victory for any party in Gujarat. The BJP also improved its vote share to 53 per cent from 49 per cent last time.
The Congress finished a distant second, winning 17 seats. In 2017, it won 77. Its vote share also fell from 42 per cent to 27 per cent.
