Stock market update: Power stocks up as market rises

NEW DELHI: Power shares closed higher in the Monday's session.

GE Vernova T&D India Ltd.(up 3.78%), CESC Ltd.(up 3.50%), Hitachi Energy India Ltd.(up 3.43%), Adani Green Energy Ltd.(up 3.12%), Energy Development Company Ltd.(up 2.91%), Voltamp Transformers Ltd.(up 2.75%), Power and Instrumentation(Gujarat)Ltd.(up 2.00%), Tata Power Company Ltd.(up 1.94%), NTPC Ltd.(up 1.42%) and SJVN Ltd.(up 1.42%) stood among the top gainers.

Jyoti Structures Ltd.(down 5.13%), Ravindra Energy Ltd.(down 4.02%), Indo Tech Transformers Ltd.(down 3.58%), Karma Energy Ltd.(down 3.10%), Indowind Energy Ltd.(down 2.37%), JSW Energy Ltd.(down 1.35%), Transformers & Rectifiers(India)Ltd.(down 1.12%), RattanIndia Power Ltd.(down 1.04%), India Power Corporation Ltd.(down 1.01%) and Jaiprakash Power Ventures Ltd.(down 0.93%) were among the top losers of the day.

The NSE Nifty50 index ended 289.16 points up at 24328.5, while the 30-share BSE Sensex closed up 1005.84 points at 80218.37.

Reliance Industries Ltd.(up 5.26%), Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd.(up 4.84%), Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd.(up 3.04%), JSW Steel Ltd.(up 2.53%), Bharat Electronics Ltd.(up 2.51%), SBI Life Insurance Company Ltd.(up 2.42%), State Bank of India(up 2.35%), Tata Steel Ltd.(up 2.32%), Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd.(up 2.32%) and Axis Bank Ltd.(up 2.28%) stood among the top gainers in the Nifty pack.

On the other hand, Shriram Finance Ltd.(down 5.07%), HCL Technologies Ltd.(down 1.84%), UltraTech Cement Ltd.(down 1.01%), Hindustan Unilever Ltd.(down 0.59%), Nestle India Ltd.(down 0.32%), Bajaj Finance Ltd.(down 0.21%), Wipro Ltd.(down 0.17%), Tata Consultancy Services Ltd.(down 0.14%), Tata Consumer Products Ltd.(down 0.05%) and Tech Mahindra Ltd.(down 0.04%) closed in the red.
