Stock market update: Mining stocks up as market rises

NEW DELHI: Mining shares closed higher in the Monday's session.

Madhav Marbles & Granites Ltd.(up 12.66%), The Orissa Minerals Development Company Ltd.(up 7.24%), Sandur Manganese & Iron Ores Ltd.(up 3.11%), NMDC Ltd.(up 2.98%), Gujarat Mineral Development Corporation Ltd.(up 2.63%), KIOCL Ltd.(up 2.44%), Pokarna Ltd.(up 1.47%), MOIL Ltd.(up 1.02%), Aro Granite Industries Ltd.(up 0.97%) and Lexus Granito(India)Ltd.(up 0.80%) stood among the top gainers.

Oriental Trimex Ltd.(down 0.87%) were among the top losers of the day.

The NSE Nifty50 index ended 273.9 points up at 24125.55, while the 30-share BSE Sensex closed up 855.3 points at 79408.5.

Tech Mahindra Ltd.(up 5.11%), Trent Ltd.(up 4.48%), IndusInd Bank Ltd.(up 4.22%), Hero MotoCorp Ltd.(up 3.85%), Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd.(up 3.56%), Bajaj Finserv Ltd.(up 3.36%), Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd.(up 3.16%), HCL Technologies Ltd.(up 3.06%), Bajaj Auto Ltd.(up 2.87%) and Axis Bank Ltd.(up 2.71%) stood among the top gainers in the Nifty pack.

On the other hand, Adani Ports & Special Economic Zone Ltd.(down 1.3%), Britannia Industries Ltd.(down 1.13%), HDFC Life Insurance Company Ltd.(down 1.1%), ITC Ltd.(down 1.03%), Hindustan Unilever Ltd.(down 1.02%), Asian Paints Ltd.(down 0.93%), Nestle India Ltd.(down 0.72%), Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd.(down 0.38%), Bharti Airtel Ltd.(down 0.31%) and Cipla Ltd.(down 0.28%) closed in the red.
