However, there is a possibility of a minor pull back rally or sideways consolidation in the next 1 or 2 days after a sharp fall which was witnessed in Friday¡¯s trading session. Support for Nifty is now seen at 24,100 and 24,000. On the higher side, immediate resistance for Nifty is at 24,450-500 levels and the next crucial resistance is at 24,700-750 levels, said Tejas Shah, Technical Research Analyst at JM Financial & BlinkX.

Societe Generale sells stake in IndusInd Bank for Rs 421 crore
Financial services company Societe Generale on Friday sold private sector lender IndusInd Bank's shares for Rs 421 crore through an open market transaction. According to the bulk deal data available on the National Stock Exchange (NSE), Paris-headquartered Societe Generale offloaded 39.30 lakh shares or 0.50 per cent stake in IndusInd Bank.
The shares were disposed of at an average price of Rs 1,070.61 apiece, taking the transaction value to Rs 420.80 crore.

Angel One pays Rs 5.74 crore to settle case with Sebi
Brokerage firm Angel One on Friday settled a case related to an alleged violation of regulatory norms with the capital markets regulator Sebi after paying Rs 5.74 crore towards settlement charges. The settlement order came after the applicant (Angel One Ltd) proposed to settle the instant proceedings initiated against them, "without admitting or denying the findings of facts and conclusions of law".
"The instant adjudication proceedings initiated against the applicant (Angel One) vide show cause notice (SCN) dated March 12, 2024, and enquiry proceedings initiated against the applicant vide SCN dated March 12, 2024, is disposed of in terms of the settlement regulations," Sebi's Adjudicating Officer Barnali Mukherjee said in the order.
"The instant adjudication proceedings initiated against the applicant (Angel One) vide show cause notice (SCN) dated March 12, 2024, and enquiry proceedings initiated against the applicant vide SCN dated March 12, 2024, is disposed of in terms of the settlement regulations," Sebi's Adjudicating Officer Barnali Mukherjee said in the order.

Poonawalla Fincorp Q2 Results: NBFC slips into red with loss of Rs 471 crore as personal loan provision multiplies
Non-banking finance company (NBFC) Poonawalla Fincorp Ltd swung to a loss in the quarter ended September 30, 2024, due to a huge increase in provisions to cover from possible losses emerging out of its short-term personal loan (STPL) portfolio.
The company reported a loss of Rs 471 crore in the September 2024 quarter from a profit of Rs 860 crore a year ago because of 32 times increase in provision to Rs 910 crore from Rs 28 crore a year ago.

Sebi comes out with periodic reporting format for research analysts, proxy advisers
Markets regulator Sebi on Friday came out with a standardised format for periodic reporting for research analysts (RAs) and proxy advisers (PAs). The regulator has recognised the Research Analyst Administration and Supervisory Body (RAASB) for the administration and supervision of RAs under the RA Regulations. As the Proxy Advisers (PAs) are registered under the RA norms, they will also come under the purview of RAASB.
In its circular, Sebi said that RAs will submit their periodic report to RAASB, and PAs will submit their periodic reports to Sebi. The periodic reports will be submitted by RAs/PAs within 30 days from the last date of the reporting period.

Torrent Pharma Q2 Results: Net profit rises 17% to Rs 453 crore
Torrent Pharmaceuticals on Friday said its consolidated profit after tax rose 17 per cent to Rs 453 crore in the September quarter, led by robust sales in the domestic market. The drug firm had reported a Profit After Tax (PAT) of Rs 386 crore in the July-September period of the last fiscal.
During the period under review, revenues rose to Rs 2,889 crore compared to Rs 2,660 crore in the year-ago period, Torrent Pharmaceuticals said in a regulatory filing.
The company said its India revenues increased 13 per cent to Rs 1,632 crore, led by outperformance in focus therapies, it added.

JM Financial Q2 profit rises 19 pc to Rs 232 cr
JM Financial on Friday reported a 19 per cent on-year increase in profit after tax at Rs 232 crore for three months ended September 30, 2024. The company had posted a profit after tax (PAT) of Rs 195 crore in the year-ago period.
On a quarter-on-quarter basis, it registered a 36 per cent growth.
Its total income marginally dropped to 1,211 crore in the July-September quarter of the current financial year (FY25) from Rs 1,214 crore in the same quarter preceding fiscal, JM Financial said in a statement.

Sebi levies Rs 16 lakh fine on Edelweiss Asset Management, 2 senior officials for MF rule violation
Capital markets regulator Sebi on Friday imposed penalties totalling Rs 16 lakh on Edelweiss Asset Management Ltd, its CEO Radhika Gupta and fund manager Trideep Bhattacharya for violating mutual fund rules. Individually, penalty of Rs 8 lakh was levied on Edelweiss Asset Management and Rs 4 lakh each on Gupta and Bhattacharya, according to an order passed by Sebi.

India's forex reserves drop USD 2.16 bn to USD 688.26 bn
India's forex reserves dropped by USD 2.163 billion to USD 688.267 billion for the week ended October 18, the Reserve Bank said on Friday. In the previous reporting week, the overall kitty had dropped by USD 10.746 billion to USD 690.43 billion in one of the largest declines in the reserves in recent times, the RBI said on Friday.
In the preceding week, the reserves had dropped by USD 3.709 billion to USD 701.176 billion. At the end of September, the reserves had hit an all-time high of USD 704.885 billion.

The initial public offering (IPO) of Afcons Infrastructure, a Shapoorji Pallonji company, was subscribed 10% so far on the first day of the bidding process on Friday.

Bank of Baroda Q2 results: Net profit jumps 23% to Rs 5,238 crore, NII up 7.3%
State-run Bank of Baroda (BOB) reported a standalone net profit of Rs 5,238 crore in Q2FY25 as against a profit of Rs 4,253 crore in Q2FY24 up by 23.2% YoY. The Net Interest Income (NII) grew by 7.3% YoY to Rs 11,622 crore in Q2FY25.
