A long negative candle was formed on the daily chart after the upside bounce of the last two sessions. The crucial overhead resistance of 24,500 remained intact and the market was not able to sustain above the resistance area. Though technically this candle pattern is not showing any signs of a bigger decline from here, but some consolidation or minor dip is expected towards 23,800 or slightly lows.
The short-term trend remains dicey with short-term volatility in the market. Until the Nifty surpasses 24,500 levels, a meaningful upside rally is not expected. At the lows, the Nifty could find support around 23,800 levels, said Nagaraj Shetti of HDFC Securities.
In the open interest (OI) data, the highest OI on the call side was observed at 24,200 and 24,250 strike prices, while on the put side, the highest OI was at 24,200 strike price followed by 24,150.

Emami Q2 Results: Standalone profit rises 31% to Rs 214 crore, revenue up 1.1%
Fast-moving consumer goods maker Emami Ltd reported a 31% year-on-year increase in standalone net profit to Rs 214.1 crore in the second quarter ending September as compared to Rs 163.6 crore in the same quarter the previous year. The standalone revenue from operations grew 1.1% year-on-year to Rs 709 crore due to a subdued demand scenario.

Rupee falls 26 paise in 2 sessions, remains strongest among Asian currencies

Eureka Forbes Q2 Results: Net profit shoots up 83% YoY to Rs 46 crore, revenue up 27%
Water purifier manufacturer Eureka Forbes reported an 83.2% increase in standalone net profit to Rs 46.67 crore in the second quarter ending September of the financial year 2024-25, compared to Rs 25.47 crore in the same quarter the previous year. Revenue from operations increased by 27.6% to Rs 672.87 crore from Rs 592.31 crore the year back.

Lupin Q2 Results: Net profit soars 74% YoY to Rs 853 crore on strong demand for generic drugs
Indian generic drugmaker Lupin reported a bigger-than-expected rise in second-quarter profit on Thursday, driven by strong demand for its respiratory and diabetes management drugs.
Consolidated net profit of the company, which makes biosimilars and active pharmaceutical ingredients, rose to 8.53 billion rupees (about $101 million) for the quarter ended Sept. 30, up about 74% from a year earlier and higher than analysts' estimates of 7.29 billion rupees, as per data compiled by LSEG.

Moderna reports surprise profit on higher-than-expected COVID vaccine sales
Moderna reported a surprise third-quarter profit on Thursday, driven by cost-cuts and higher-than-expected sales of its COVID-19 vaccine, even with low revenue from its new respiratory syncytial virus shot.
Shares of the Cambridge, Massachusetts-based company surged 11% in premarket trading.
Moderna posted a profit of $13 million, or 3 cents a share, for the quarter, compared to a loss of $3.6 billion a year ago. Analysts had expected a loss of $753 million, or $1.90 a share, according to LSEG data.

Gold slides Rs 1,650 to Rs 79,500 per 10 grams; silver plunges Rs 2,900
Gold and silver prices slumped in the national capital on Thursday, with the precious metal declining Rs 1,650 and slipping below the Rs 80,000-mark, according to the All India Sarafa Association. Tepid demand by local jewellers amid weak trend overseas as the primary reason behind the fall in prices, traders said.
The precious metal slipped Rs 1,650 to Rs 79,500 per 10 grams against the previous close of Rs 81,150 per 10 grams on Wednesday.
Silver, too followed suit, plunging Rs 2,900 to Rs 93,800 per kg on reduced offtake by industrial units and coin makers. It had traded flat at Rs 96,700 per kg on Wednesday.

Sebi mulls allying concerns on 'skin in the game' rule for MF employees
To address concerns about the "skin in the game" rule for designated employees of mutual funds, Sebi on Thursday proposed reducing the mandatory investment percentage, applying it based on salary brackets, and excluding non-cash components like ESOPs from the minimum investment calculation. The proposals aimed at easing compliance, particularly for employees with lower CTCs and those in operational roles.
At present, AMC employees such as the CEO, CIO, and fund managers are required to invest 20 per cent of their annual salary and perks in the mutual funds they manage. This amount is locked in for three years.

The initial public offering (IPO) of Niva Bupa Healthcare, which opened for subscription earlier on Thursday, has been subscribed by 65%, with qualified institutional bidders driving the demand. Pricol Q2 Results: Consolidated profits reported at Rs 45.07 cr
Automotive components maker Pricol Ltd reported consolidated profits of Rs 45.07 crore for the July-September 2024 quarter, maintaining its growth momentum, a company official said on Thursday. The Coimbatore-based company had recorded profits of Rs 33.15 crore during the same quarter of the previous financial year.
Commenting on the financial performance, Managing Director Vikram Mohan said, "Even as the overall industry experiences relatively muted growth across vehicle segments, I am pleased to share that we have sustained our growth momentum. Our strategic initiatives and focus on operational excellence are consistently delivering positive outcomes, as evidenced by our steady performance."
For the six-month period ending September 30, 2024, profits surged to Rs 90.63 crore, up from Rs 65.09 crore in the same period last year.
The consolidated total income during the quarter rose to Rs 674.95 crore, compared to Rs 581.84 crore in the corresponding quarter of the previous year.

NCC Q2 Results: Profit more than doubles to Rs 163 crore on higher order inflows
Indian infrastructure firm NCC on Thursday reported its profit more than doubled in the second quarter, helped by higher order inflows.
Consolidated net profit rose to 1.63 billion rupees ($19.3 million) for the quarter ended Sept. 30 from 773.4 million rupees a year ago.
Revenue from operations rose 10.1% to 51.96 billion rupees. While total expenses rose 7.6% to 49.74 billion rupees, the cost of materials consumed, which forms more than a third of expenses, fell 1.2%.

AstraZeneca says China chief detained
Pharmaceutical giant AstraZeneca said Thursday that the head of its China operations had been detained, after reports the firm was under investigation for potentially illegal data collection and drug imports.
Leon Wang, president of AstraZeneca China, "has been detained", a representative of the firm's global media team said in an email to AFP.
"If requested, we will fully cooperate with the Chinese authorities," they said.
"We continue to deliver our life changing medicines to patients in China and our operations are ongoing," they said.
Last month, the firm confirmed that Wang had been placed under investigation.

Brookfield India REIT plans to raise up to Rs 3,500 cr via issue of unitholders
Brookfield India Real Estate Trust on Thursday announced plans to raise up to Rs 3,500 crore through issue of units to institutional investors to reduce debt as well as to fund future growth, and reported a 40 per cent increase in its net operating income to Rs 485.8 crore for the second quarter of this fiscal. The company also announced distribution of Rs 220.8 crore for the second quarter of this fiscal to unitholders.
The board of directors of Brookprop Management Services Pvt Ltd, the manager of Brookfield India Real Estate Trust, approved the issuance of units of Brookfield India REIT through an institutional placement of units not exceeding Rs 3500 crore in one or more placement, according to a regulatory filing on Thursday.
The proceeds will be used for the partial or full prepayment or repayment of the outstanding borrowings, equity contribution, general purposes, including funding operating expenses, funding capital expenditure, making investments in creditworthy instruments and/or future inorganic or organic growth opportunities, it added.

Foreign outflows of $3.1 bln from Indian financials drive record monthly sales in October, data shows
Foreign portfolio investors (FPIs) pulled out about $3.1 billion from Indian financial stocks in October, the second-highest amount ever from the sector and accounting for 30% of the record overall withdrawal for the month, data showed on Thursday.
The 260.42 billion-rupee selloff in financials - the heaviest weighted index on the benchmark NSE Nifty 50 - contributed to the record monthly outflows of $11.2 billion.

The Trump victory is turning out to be more potentially transformative than thought earlier. With the Congress and the Senate coming under Republican control and President Trump exercising power without bothering about another term in office, hugely transformational decisions are possible in the months following Trump’s assumption of office. These decisions may turn out to be both good and bad. His pro- business initiative of ‘America First’ can strengthen the American economy. But if he walks his talk and imposes a 60% tariff on Chinese imports and 10 to 20% tariff on imports from other countries, that would trigger inflation and jeopardise the Fed’s policy of containing inflation, necessitating a rethink of the Fed’s present policy of rate cut. This has the potential to negatively impact global stock markets.It is important to understand that even though Trump’s anti-China policy has positive implications for India, Trump has been critical of ‘India’s high tariffs’ and won’t hesitate to impose tariffs on India’s exports to the US.
