What is Volume Testing
Description: The purpose of volume-testing is to check system performance with increased volume of data in the database.
For example, if you want to volume test an application with specific database size, expand your database to that size by adding more data in the database to increase the capacity and then perform the test.
Another example could be if you plan to have 500 users on your system, running a test of 500 users is volume testing and when there is requirement for the application to interact with an interface file, which could be file such as .dat,. xml, etc and interaction could be reading and writing on to/from the file, sample file of the size will be created and test application functionality with that file in order to verify the performance.
Goals of Volume Testing:
? To check the load or volume at which a system¡¯s stability starts to degrade.
? To check the system¡¯s response time.
? To check if data is overwritten without any notifications.
? To verify if data is stored incorrectly.
Volume-testing services include test management, building test labs, preparation of test strategy and test plan development, preparation of automation testing frameworks, help in making test script, test scenario development, execution of test cases, and provide measurable test reports.
